Tribal Gathering — Main Stage

For Tribal Gathering 2017 on the Caribbean coast of Panama, RE:SORB mapped the sculptural main stage with 3D visuals that turned the structure into a living, breathing organism through the night.

RE:SORB has been bringing mapping visuals to music festivals since 2007 — from the first psytrance stages to Boom, Ozora, Fusion and Glastonbury.

Stage mapping treats the structure itself as the screen. The content is built to the geometry of the structure, so it follows every plane and edge, and the surface appears to move rather than simply hold a picture. At Tribal Gathering that surface was the main stage structure.

The visuals were generative and performed live, so they followed the music through the night. On the structure the mapping reads as blue geometric forms in the dark.
