The Party Is Over — RE:SORB × Gérard Rancinan

For the vernissage of the French photographer Gérard Rancinan’s exhibition at Urban Spree Gallery in Berlin, RE:SORB created a 3D mapping show on his monumental artwork ‘The Party Is Over’.

The photograph’s baroque tableau of figures was rebuilt in 3D and set in motion, with light travelling through the scene, dissolving and reassembling the image.

The surface here was not a building but a photograph. Here the geometry to be matched was that of the large-format artwork itself.

The piece belongs to the studio's art work rather than its architectural work: gallery installations, sculpture mapping and collaborations with painters, photographers and street artists, in which projection is used as a medium rather than a display. Urban Spree is one of the Berlin venues where RE:SORB has worked in that way. The show was made for the vernissage, the opening of the exhibition.
